In Loving Memory Of Jeffrey David Warne
1988-2008
On January 26, 2008 Jeff was suddenly taken from us in a violent act. This was more than the loss of a young life. It was the loss of a son, brother and truly loved friend.
Words cannot describe the loss and heartache his family and friends continue to endure.
When a child dies, grief can devastate a family. Bereaved Families is an organization in Ontario whose primary mandate is to provide support services to families who have lost children. BFO – Durham continues to assist Jeff’s family with compassion and support.
BFO was initiated in 1978 by four bereaved mothers as a self-help, mutual aid program. Their mutual support of one another grew to welcome and include others who were also suffering this life shattering experience.
In July 1984, the organization became a provincial body made possible by a grant from the Trillium Foundation. It is a non-profit organization and a registered charity.
On May 24, 2015 Jeff’s family and friends will gather to participate in the 7th Annual Run to Remember. We will meet at Jeff’s commemorative bench on the Waterfront trail. From there we will follow a scenic 3km trail around the beautiful Petticoat Creek Conservation Area. “Team Jeff” will consist of runners, walkers and bikers of all ages and fitness levels. Our goal is to cross the finish line in honour of our beloved and dearly missed Jeff and to raise money for the Bereaved Families of Ontario – Durham Chapter.
In the past 6 years we have raised over $60,000 for BFO-Durham by way of our Run to Remember.
Our goal for this year’s run is to raise $11,111. The Number 11 is more than just a number. It was Jeff’s favourite number and he always proudly wore it on his hockey and soccer jerseys.
